Straight Through The Heart.
Straight Through The Heart - Dio.
Dio’s one of those artists I wish I had discovered even earlier, because Straight Through the Heart hits with the kind of power that makes you wonder why people listen to anything else. There’s something about the way the song starts that sharp, biting riff from Vivian Campbell that already warns you you’re about to get punched right in the soul. And then Dio comes in with that voice… man, it’s not even singing at that point, it’s like he’s throwing lightning straight at you.
For me, this song feels like classic metal in its purest form. No overthinking, no messing around just attitude, melody, and a bit of dramatic fire. It’s the kind of track that makes you straighten your back, walk faster, and act like you’re in a fantasy movie where you’re the chosen one but also extremely pissed off. I swear, if you play this song while staring out a rainy window, you instantly look like you’re going through something even if you’re actually fine.
What I love the most is how Holy Diver is already full of giants, but this track never gets overshadowed. It stands tall on its own. Dio sings every line like he means it with his whole chest, and the chorus? Dude, it hits straight through your heart. It’s powerful without needing to scream, emotional without being soft, and heavy without being chaotic. It’s just perfect classic heavy metal, clean and sharp like a blade.
This song reminds me why I love metal in the first place. It’s dramatic, intense, and alive — and it makes you feel like you can take on anything. And honestly, any week that includes blasting Dio is already a good week.
